Gary and Tim have made it safely back to Santa Cruz and it is rather late. The 5-1/2 hour trip was highlighted with one stop to settle the stomach of one of the small passengers who lost his cookies. The road is bumpy and windy and this contributed to the excitement. Another stop was for a tow truck to remove a dump truck that had collided with a Jeep and run off the road. It appeared the front wheels of the truck were completely ripped off and the rear axle was twisted in ways that did not seem possible. On the "cookie" stop, we noticed the starry sky that was so clear you could almost touch the stars. Skies here in Bolivia re beautiful and we are hopeful that our team will be able to experience the beauty of the Milky Way at its brightest. Crux, otherwise known as the Southern Cross, is very visible here.
Tomorrow we will meet with Fernando who is going to purchase our supplies for us. The list is broad and we are hopeful that most or all of the supplies are available here in Santa Cruz. Tom had sent this photo out in an I-TEC email, but it is the only photo I have for today, and is the last time the five of us will be together without the rest of our team. Friday will be here before we know it!
