We got up this morning and loaded our luggage onto the mission truck for the trip to Monte Blanco.
On the way up we stopped for a break as a small town and had some snacks and ate our lunch.
Driving through the Andes foothills is often filled with some spectacular scenery.
Once we got to Monte Blanco we unloaded and did an initial walk-through of some of the buildings and did some brainstorming as to how we might accomplish some of our tasks. JAH Construction was true to their word and by the end of the day all of the new concrete poles were set in place ready for wire to be placed on them tomorrow. We had dinner with the staff and the JAH workers and then did some more exploring in the Chapel. We did some troubleshooting on the Internet for the camp and found several problems that need addressed. We will attempt to get this up and running better by end of day tomorrow.
As we understand it, Campus Crusade For Christ has the camp rented out for the weekend and will have around 300 campers here at Monte Blanco from sometime tomorrow through the end of Carnival (Mardi Gras)on Tuesday. These camps run during this celebration are a way for these young people to be removed from some of the "celebrating" and debauchery that is associated with this holiday that signals the beginning of Lent. It is the largest camp of the year for Monte Blanco. It will be run almost entirely by the staff of Campus Crusade but some of the camp staff will be involved in some of the programs. As this goes on we will be going in and out of all of the buildings and trying to create an accurate material list for supplies to be bought before the I-TEC and Steppin Out Ministries teams arrive next Saturday.
